There is not much to the village of Sant Mateu in the west of the island of Ibiza, but the church takes up a fairly large mass of land in the middle of it.

The large area of Sant Josep covers mainly the whole south west of the island and is a gateway to some of the island's most beautiful beaches and to the islet of Es Vedra.

Just off the western coast of the island lies an small archipelago of uninhabited islands. The largest of these is Illa de sa Conillera, literally translated at "rabbit island", due to its residents.

Heading out north west on the main road from Ibiza to San Antonio, after 7km, lies the small village of San Rafael.
