Watch Perseids meteor shower in Ibiza
Where, when and how to watch the meteor shower
The most spectacular astronomical event of the summer, the Perseids meteor shower
They occur every year between 17 July and 24 August, peaking around 9 to 13 August.
The Perseids are fragments of dust from the Swift-Tuttle comet which ignite when they enter the atmosphere. They are also known as the 'tears of Saint Lawrence' because they usually coincide around the Saint's celebration on 10 August. This peak is expected on the nights of the 12 and 13 August.
The average seasonal temperature of around 25ºC will make it the perfect time to head outdoors and watch this beautiful natural phenomenon.
The view will be best the furthest away you can get from inhabited areas. Hills, beaches and the countryside are the best places to observe them, with the coastline along Santa Eulalia and Sant Josep being prime spots. Just direct your view to the constellation of Perseus, to the right of the Ursa Major, otherwise known as the 'Plough', and enjoy!
