Ibiza's artisan markets are famous worldwide. Especially popular are the island's hippy markets organised since the 1970s by the hippy community that made the White Isle their home. But most towns and villages in Ibiza celebrate local arts and crafts markets throughout the week in the summer.

Popular markets and days in Ibiza

Ibizan markets offer mainly artisan products: colourful clothes, handmade accessories and jewellery, leather items, pottery, household goods and organic cosmetics. They usually feature a few local Ibizans selling produce grown or produced on the island. These artisan and hippy markets normally take place during the summer months in the evening with some stalls serving food and drink as well as live music. Worry not about the language barriers, the islanders love it if they see that you are making an effort to blend in, no matter the quality of your Spanglish.

For a more authentic experience, head to one of Ibiza Town's markets. The Mercat Vell and the Mercat Nou are where locals go to buy fresh fruit and veg, flowers, meat and fish.
