Port des Torrent Beach Review

One of the best resort beaches along San Antonio bay

featured in Beach reviews Author Anita Gait, Ibiza Reporter Updated

Port des Torrent beach is really the last beach that can claim to be in the San Antonio Bay area and is also probably the furthest one you can conceivably walk to. Located 4.5 km away from San Antonio town along a lovely coastal stretch it will take you about an hour to walk. Once there you have the option to hop on a bus or ferry to get back to town.

If you’re in the mood for exploring then you could happily spend all day beach hopping along this route stopping at any or all of the seven or eight beaches you’ll pass along the bay and if you do that, by the time you arrive at Port des Torrent beach you will be well qualified to judge it one of the best in the area.

A sself-containedcove, Torrent is a proper resort beach with a good 100m long stretch of sand that also stretches back 50m allowing plenty of space for beach goers to spread out away from each other. Sand dunes and a protected area of grass and trees back the beach distancing it form the nearby road and giving it a rural feel whilst arms of rock stretch out to sea either side of the sand enclosing the cove and making for a natural harbour area with calm still waters.

The beach has all the usual amenities including lifeguard, toilets, showers, sun beds (€ 8 a day) and an easy access wooden walkway stretching all around the beach. You will also find additional amenities provided by nearby super hotel the 4* Sirenis Seaview Country Club Hotel, including the collection of Seaview shops which line the beach road and are open to the public, including supermarket, souvenir shop, clothing store and sweet shop, also a medical centre which is open 24hours.

The Seaview boasts many facilities which are not open to the public such as adventure park, water park, several restaurants, pools and sports zones which when combined with the excellent location on Torrent beach front will have you rethinking your accommodation for next time.

The location of this large family orientated holiday village, lends the beach a very child-friendly vibe, visitors mostly have small children and the hotel childcare teams can regularly been seen going about their organised fun and games. You’ll find many a small child digging a ditch, castle or giant hole along the waters edge and exploring the sand dunes behind the beach. Adventurers will also love the sea here, rocky at both sides the edges of Torrent are great spots for rock pooling, crab hunting and snorkelling whilst the main of the beach has a shallow sea entry which is sandy for several meters out making it a good spot for beginner water babies to splash around. The usual array of pedalos, paddleboards, kayaks and water sports are on offer to entertain bigger kids too as well as seahorse scuba dive centre.

When you need to feed your little explorers or if you just fancy some adult cocktails then you’re in a great spot for it, Torrent has a lovely array of restaurants lining the beach each with its own personality and varied menu. First to grab your attention will be brightly coloured Imagine with its reggae and jazz music floating out and bright signs proclaiming €5.50 mojitos, Sushi bar and nightly fire shows. The cocktails here are intricate and tasty whilst the menu is well priced for hearty portions, a plate of bread and aioli nibbles at €3 is in fact a loaf of bread, bucket of dip and pile of olives and pickled veggies big enough to stop you needing a main course.

Each one of these four has a great view out over the beach, plenty of outdoor seating and is a lovely spot for lunch, cocktails or dinner with a sunset view, whatever your budget or palate one of these four will have you covered and you just have to struggle to choose between them.
