The sound of silence in Ibiza

The White Isle's nightclubs to be turned into silent discos

featured in News & reviews Author Ana Hernández, Ibiza Editor Updated

Imagine hundreds of people dancing and banging their head to the sound of... silence? This is what you will see once you enter Ibiza's nightclubs this summer as authorities are forcing them to install silent disco equipment.

Quiet clubbing is becoming more and more popular thanks to its benefits in minimising noise pollution and disturbance to neighbours and wildlife. Severe restrictions on outdoor music have already been imposed in the towns of Sant Antoni, Sant Josep and Santa Eulalia, and now the ban has reached indoors.

The booth will still host ultra-famous DJs like Carl Cox or David Guetta, but their music will now be broadcast via a sophisticated music system and received by wireless headphone receivers worn by clubbers. But worry not, club managers have proclaimed that they will install the latest silent clubbing technology, so you will not notice the difference.
