Philippe Starck is one of the most famous designers in the world, well known for his hugely varied portfolio which features everything from boats to marinas, houses, furniture and even kitchenware. His gorgeous villa in Formentera is now on the market for €7.9 million on Sotheby's International Realty.

Starck's relationship with Ibiza's little sister, Formentera, started over 40 years ago when he visited the paradisiacal island and explored its dirt roads on a scooter. He decided to settle here in the mid-1990s and designed this house inspired by the "architecture to be found on the island of Capri, specifically the Casa Malaparte”. Built in the late 1930s on a clifftop, Casa Malaparte was created by Adalberto Libera using simple, geometric lines.

The 400m2 house, set in a 37,000m2 plot, is located on the coast of Formentera, in the popular Cap de Barbaria area whose lighthouse is perhaps one of the most Instagrammable (and Instagrammed) spots on the island. It has floor to ceiling windows offering panoramic views of the sea and a 100m2 swimming pool. Inside, the house has been decorated in an understated style, recreating the Mediterranean nature that surrounds the villa.

The French designer has lived in Formentera for long periods of time with his fourth wife Jasmine Abdellatif and their daughter. "I'm used to living in Formentera. There are no distractions here. When I get to a place I need to be able to focus" he has said about the house. He also owns properties in France, Venice and Cascais (Portugal).
