Last Sunday saw the last triathlon competition in the Spanish calendar take place in Ibiza. The Ibiza Blue Challenge Triathlon is a tough event that takes participants through the lesser-known part of the island, the beautiful north coast.

The course started around the small Margaritas islands with a 3800m swim, followed by a 180km road cycling race between the rural towns of Sant Mateu and Santa Agnes and ending with a 42km run through the area's forest trails.

The Ibiza local Juan Carlos Campillo arrived in first place after 10 hours and 50 minutes. Only 50 athletes were able to enter the main challenge. There was also a relay race and three separate swimming, bike and night run competitions.
