Abel Matutes

Former mayor of ibiza & Minister of Foreign Affairs for Spain

Matutes was born in Ibiza in 1941. He started off a political career by becoming the mayor of Ibiza, he then progressed to represent the Balearics and onto the Spanish National Government, where he acted as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1996 - 2000. 

 As a business man, he has been involved in tourism, aviation, biotechnology and banking companies, and is Deputy chairman of the Ibiza and Formentera Tourism Employers Organisation. He is reportedly a large share holder in some of Ibiza's top nightclubs.
