Ibiza has been chosen as the perfect setting for THE wedding of the year in Hollywood. Two of the hottest actors, Swedish Alicia Vikander and Irish-German Michael Fassbender, tied the knot on the White Isle last Saturday.

The couple met in 2014 at the Toronto Film Festival and worked together that same year in the romantic film "The Light Between Oceans". Rumours started swirling a month ago when media reported that they were going to celebrate a secret wedding in Ibiza in October. They were seen together on the island in July, perhaps scouting wedding venues, and flew here last Tuesday from Paris Orly, where Vikander visited a high-end designer's shop.

Celebrations took place throughout the weekend. On Friday, guests were invited on a trip around the Ibizan coastline on a luxury catamaran yacht. They stopped for lunch at Yemanja Beach Club, a beautiful spot on Cala Jondal, a stunning little beach on the south of the island that is a favourite among celebrities. Their restaurant, open throughout the year, serves Mediterranean cuisine.

Saturday was the big day. Their chosen venue was a finca located between San Antonio and Santa Gertrudis, deep within Ibiza's countryside. "La Granja" is a unique traditional 6-bedroom farmhouse with Moorish features that has been tastefully renovated in a unique minimalist style. Its main feature is an extensive biodynamic vegetable garden and farm with indigenous breeds of sheep and chicken, which are the responsibility of on-site master farmer Andy Szymanowicz.

To finish off a perfect weekend on the White Isle, there was post-wedding brunch at Es Xarcu Restaurant. This intimate, family-run eatery serving fresh fish and seafood boasts a large terrace by the sea and is situated on a small virgin cove near Cala Jondal.
