If you've ever been stung by a jellyfish you know that it's not a pleasant experience. There are several species living in the Mediterranean so seeing them swimming near the beaches of Ibiza isn't unusual.

Two friends living on the island, Ismael and Roel, have decided to fight jellyfish stings one beach at a time. They have developed an app, Medusas Ibiza, where people can report jellyfish sightings or, even better, their absence in real time. This free app shows a map of Ibiza and Formentera with jellyfish icons in green, yellow and red depending on whether anyone has caught glimpse of one.

If you've not been able to avoid getting stung, there is also a first aid section explaining how to deal with the painful prick. And, if you've seen a jellyfish and want to know more about it, there's even information on local species. Medusas Ibiza is available on IOS and Android for free.
