Carl Cox to create a new Space Ibiza
Coxy wants to bring Space's magic back to the White Isle
For 15 years, from 2001 to 2016, Space Ibiza was almost synonymous with Carl Cox. The British DJ was the Playa d'en Bossa club's main resident and he expressed his regret loud and clear when Space shut its doors in October 2016.
Cox's attachment to Space was so close that he still hasn't set foot on the new club that has replaced it, Hï Ibiza, saying that he thinks he'll shed a tear as he walks through the door. That's why, in a recent interview, he manifested his wish to re-open Space, which he called his home, in a new location on the island.
"The new Space doesn't actually have to be on Playa d'en Bossa. Obviously, we need someplace where it's a little bit quiet. There is no way I'm going to build a Space nightclub next to Ushuaia or anything. We will go to a completely new place with a new concept. But the idea is to have the same people who made Space and have people who want to support me in my quest to create a new Space back on the island."
He also spoke about why Space was so important for the White Isle's clubbing scene: "Space brought everybody together. Whether you worked in the post office or whether you worked in a supermarket or a petrol station."
Cox has said that 2020 sounds like a good date to open his new Space. We can't wait to see what he comes up with!
