Tim Bergling, aka Avicii, is only 26 years old but he has already retired from the electronic music scene. The iconic Ushuaia Nightclub, in Playa d'en Bossa, was the set of his historical final gig last Sunday.

This premature retirement has been prompted by Avicii's alcohol addiction, which has caused him grave health problems as well as some last-minute gig cancellations. Doctors have advised him to say farewell to his demanding nightlife, which he did with a spectacular party at Ushuaia, recorded by more than fifty cameras for a documentary on his life as a DJ. Some of the fans that witnessed the moment even cried when the lights went off and the music stopped.

With a career that has span only six years, he has become one of the most celebrated DJs of the 2000s with huge hits such as 'Wake me up' or Coldplay's 'Sky full of stars'. Avicii's retirement confirms how the year 2016 has turned into a crossroads for Ibiza's clubbing scene, with Carl Cox abandoning the island after his last set at Space this coming September. Hopefully this means that the future of the White Isle will be even brighter!
