Blue Bar Restaurant & Bar, Formentera

International bar & restaurant on the beach at Sant Ferran

featured in Restaurants Updated

Located on the top of a dune on Migjorn beach, this restaurant and bar was opened in the 1960s and it rapidly became a hippie hotspot. They serve Mediterranean and Asian cuisine, as well as cocktails and tapas right in front of the beach.

This legendary bar has hosted Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Marley, King Crimson and Pink Floyd among others. They have been serving a restaurant menu since 1997, which includes pasta, risotto, a wide variety of salads, meat and fresh fish.

Their sunsets are famous throughout the island when they play a combination of chill-out, reggae, pop, jazz and electronic music. During sunset, you can also order tapas including nachos with guacamole and cheese, olives and small plates to accompany your cocktail. Sunset service from 19:00 to 21:00.

Open from March to November. In July and August booking is recommended.

Visitor comments

  • "Reggae music on the afternoon of our visit. Great atmosphere...nice sunset and location. Open for happy hour and for dinner." - Trip Advisor
  • "Either day or night (but the later the better) Blue Bar is a fantastic spot: it keeps the old hippie-Formentera flavour updated with a hippester touch and the so famous freak "martian" style. Gorgeous views over the sea, good for drinks but also very good food. Live DJ music on Tuesdays and Fridays. A must go!" - Trip Advisor
  • "We had a great time at Blue bar, both for drinks during the day and a great dinner watching the sunset with a DJ playing in the background. Great relaxed atmosphere as a beach bar should be." - Trip Advisor
