Ibiza is one of the sunniest spots in Europe, the best place to organise one of the last events of the trail running season. The Ibiza Trail Marathon was celebrated last Saturday with the victories of Franco Collé from Italy, and the local Ibizan runner Sabina Corral as the first woman to cross the finish line.

There were 3 races: 10km, 21km and 42km. The course took participants from the marina at Sant Antoni de Portmany through the beautiful coastline to the north and back, with a total of 4,021m of positive ascent.

Collé arrived first after 3 hours and 43 minutes, only two minutes before the Spaniard Ignasi Cardona. The winner hit his head with a tree branch just 5km before the end, needing six stitches. Sabina Corral, on the other hand, approached the finish line under the rain after 5 hours and 51 minutes.
