With the news back in October 2015 that Carl Cox would be ending his residency at Space Ibiza in 2016, there has been much speculation about what the future will bring to the Ibiza superclub and what will become of the summer 2016 season.

He told inthemix - the Australian music magazine - "It's not that I'm walking away from the club, because Pepe [Rosello], the owner of Space, his contract is up at the club [in 2016]. He's going to be 80-years-old and will officially be out.

"It gets handed over to Ushuaïa Group across the road and its manager Jan will be given the keys to run Space. And once that happens, everything changes. So I have no desire to stay in that club for any reason.

"My heart tells me I will not ever do that [play for the money] - because if Pepe's not there, I am not there. We grew up together, we've been all the way through this together, and we're going to finish together. And I'm quite happy about that, because it means we leave the legacy of a club that made a difference.

"We can walk away with that."

The pair's last season will be this year, 2016, meaning it's all change from 2017.

But this year we can rest assured that the legend that is Space Ibiza will continue as before with Glitterbox on Fridays, We Love Space on Sundays and Carl Cox: Revolution The Final Chapter on Tuesdays, already firmly in the calendar.
