San José's town council has drafted a plan to regulate access to the area of Sa Pedrera and Torre des Savines, a very popular tourist spot. The large number of visitors and cars have prompted local authorities to take measures in order to diminish impact on the site.

The unsupervised crowds, together with a difficult downhill trail to access the cave which many approach without proper shoes, have caused accidents in the area. The large amounts of people and a lack of parking spaces and bins are also bringing about the deterioration of the landscape.

The town council will regulate parking and access, even introducing opening and closing times. They will also mark out itineraries in and around Atlantis, the tower and S'Era des Mataret, printing out brochures with information on the routes and their risks. Additionally, they will set up an information booth.
