The paradisiacal islands of Ibiza and Formentera are offering more and more options for those visitors in search of a luxury experience. After announcing the makeover of the Platja d'en Bossa area with the arrival of high-end hotel chains Hilton and Starwood, it's now the turn of Formentera where two new 5-star hotels will be open in 2018.

The small island of Formentera currently boasts no 5-star hotels, but that will change in May 2018 when Paya Hotels, owners of the 4-star Blanco Hotel in Es Pujols, will re-open their Hostal Cala Es Pujols after a full renovation. Located just 200 metres from the beach, this 1-star hotel will become a luxury establishment offering 79 rooms and suites, as well as 2 swimming pools, one of them on the rooftop overlooking Ibiza, a gym and a spa.

According to Juanma Costa, owner of Paya Hotels, the demand for more exclusive types of accommodation has risen dramatically in Formentera in the past couple of years. This new 5-star hotel will sit near the renovated sea promenade and town of Es Pujols, which will also undergo a full makeover.

The White Isle will see its 5-star offering increased this summer season too, with 2 new luxury hotels in Talamanca Beach and Ibiza Town.
