As we enter a new season and edge one step closer to summer, we have collated a selection of the best things to do in Ibiza in March.

What's the weather like in Ibiza in March?

The weather in Ibiza during March is particularly pleasant, with temperatures expected to reach up to a balmy 20°C. Despite its mild, sunny and dry climate, the island’s Mediterranean waters may be too cold for swimming, at a mere 15°C. However, the amount of sunshine on the island remains high with the sun shining for an average of seven hours each day.

What's on in Ibiza in March?

Day of the Balearics:
he month kicks off with the celebration of the Day of the Balearic Islands. This is an official holiday for Mallorca, Ibiza, Minorca & Formentera celebrated every year on the 1st of March. On the day you’ll find a host of fun-filled events taking place across the island, as well as artisan markets and live music.

Traditional fiestas:

  • Santa Agnes Fiesta - the quaint town of Santa Agnes de Corona celebrates its patron saint on this day with a lovely offering of gastronomy, traditional markets and children's activities.
  • San Jose Fiesta - 19 March is the Patron Saint Day of San Jose which is celebrated across Ibiza with Flower power parties and festivals, as well as fire runs!

Food festival:
Foodie lovers won’t be disappointed this month as the Patrimoni Gastronomic Festival continues in Ibiza Town, offering a wealth of culinary delights. Taking place throughout February and March every year in celebration of Dalt Vila’s inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list, restaurants will offer enticing menus that will take diners on a gastronomical journey across the globe. Expect to find some excellently priced and extravagant menus offerings in eateries across Ibiza Town.

Explore historic Dalt Vila in March

With manageable temperatures and quieter streets, March is a great time to explore Ibiza Town and in particular the usually busy old town of Dalt Vila above Ibiza Town.

Perched high atop a hilltop lies this ancient walled fortress, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Lose yourself in the treasure trove of cobbled streets and passageways that lead up from the Port of Ibiza, and immerse yourself in the island’s fascinating history and culture. Take in the stunning medieval architecture in its cathedral and fortress wall, as well as making discoveries in the renowned Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Most importantly, don’t forget to take a break in some of the very tempting restaurants, cafes and bars.

Hiking in March

Ibiza is a popular sporting destination and April is a particularly popular time for hikers and walkers thanks to the wonderful climate. Discover some of Ibiza’s most beautiful scenery by foot with plenty of routes taking in the beautiful coastlines, beaches, cliffs, and picturesque towns. Formentera is one of the favourite destinations for hikers and runners. There are routes of varying distances and difficulties all across the island, to suit anyone from beginners to more seasoned hikers. Most importantly, there are lots of excellent cafes and restaurants across the island that you can stumble into on your routes for a refresher and to rest your feet.

Quieter beaches in March

During the month of March, the temperatures are warming up in the daytime but the seaside is peacefully quiet before the full heat of the summer. It’s a great time to head to the beaches to enjoy the peace and beauty of the sea in a tranquil setting. Although the sea temperatures will be far too cold for most, there’s nothing quite like strolling an empty beach, or relaxing in the sand with the sun on your face and just hearing the sound of the waves.

Ibiza is renowned for its outstanding offering of beautiful beaches, which attract thousands of visitors each year, beach towel and picnic in hand. Relax in the beautiful bays of Cala Jondal or Portanix, explore the splendid coves at Sa Pedrera, or meander along the long stretches of sand at Cala Tarida or Playa d'en Bossa
