Ibiza beach clubs open for summer 2017

Where to sip champagne & sun yourself on the White Isle

featured in News & reviews Author Ana Hernández, Ibiza Editor Updated

Winter is over and we can finally start to enjoy the longer hours of evening sunlight. But that's not all! We take a look at which beach clubs open their doors this spring to begin the 2017 season in Ibiza.

Ibiza is a vibrant island all year round due to its cosmopolitan nature. The mild winter climate is also a draw for those who live further north and are looking for some winter sunshine. So it makes sense that a handful of the beach clubs in Ibiza have their restaurants and terrace areas open all year round. However, that is certainly no substitute for a hot summer's day when you can lay on your sun lounger, getting served cocktails and snacks as you soak up the rays, bronze your skin and wiggle your toes in the soft white sand.

Year-round beach clubs

Along the coast of Ibiza there are several beach clubs who remain open throughout the year, especially as restaurants, but will be reduced to a daytime service out of the summer season, occasionally stretching to early evening during festive or holiday periods. But come summer they will be buzzing well into the early hours of the morning.

Yemanja Beach Club serves traditional Ibizan cuisine in Cala Jondal, while you can find freshly caught local fish and classic Spanish rice at Atzaró Beach in Cala NovaCotton Beach Club, an exclusive spot that boasts its own private beach above Cala Tarida, Sir Rocco Beach Club, an Italian restaurant with live DJs in Playa d'en Bossa, and the wonderfully located Elements, a bohemian, ecological and natural restaurant and bar at the iconic Benirras beach also fall into this bracket.

Early openings

A few of the beach clubs opened their doors in late March or early April, capturing the early season tourists in their restaurants. Located on the beautiful beach of Ses Salines are Guarana and Jockey, perfect places to watch spectacular sunsets and maybe even the odd celebrity.

Playa d'en Bossa is undoubtedly the White Isle's hotspot for beach clubs. The popular sandy strip is home to some of the best nightclubs in Ibiza, and clubgoers have their pick of exclusive peaceful havens where to nurse their hangover and warm up for the next big party here. Many of these have opened their doors early, such as Nassau Beach Club, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, and Coco Beach Club.  If you're staying in Ibiza Town and don't want to stray too far, El Chiringuito on the beach of Es Cavallet is one of the best options.

Ibiza's long and beautiful coastline is the setting of many other beach clubs which have taken advantage of the island's mild spring weather to start their season a bit sooner. That's the case of Tropicana Ibiza Beach Club, situated on the glamorous Cala JondalCala Bassa Beach Club, a large establishment with lots on offer that takes its name from the long beach it stands on, and Experimental Beach Ibiza, located at Cap des Falco in Ses Salines which offers one of the best spots for a drink at sunset with an interrupted view.

Easter openings

A few of the beach clubs are opening their doors for Easter to capture the early season tourists in their restaurants and the locals who are looking for a special Easter break. These include Amante Beach Club, set in the breathtaking cove of Cala Llonga, and Pura Vida at the stunning Niu Blau beach.

Late April openings

The remaining of beach clubs in Ibiza open their doors in late April and early May until the end of the summer season in September. Nikki Beach, the club of choice for all the A-listers and jetsetters visiting the island, celebrate their opening party on Thursday April 27th. Champagne will flow and the best DJs will spin their tunes at what will be a day to remember in Santa Eulalia.

The weekend before, on the 21st of April, will be the turn of Hard Rock Beach Club. The exclusive Blue Marlin, in Cala Jondal, will also open their restaurant and cocktail bar to sunbathers, swimmers and diners in April, with a weekend-long party that will set up the tone of what the season will be. That same weekend will see the start of the season at Beachouse Beach Club, an Italian restaurant and beach bar in Playa d'en Bossa and the lavish Ocean Beach Ibiza, home to some of the best daytime bashes in the bay of San Antonio.
