Isla de Espalmador, Ibiza

Muddy heaven on a small secluded island in the Mediterranean

featured in Towns & villages Updated

If you're looking for even more seclusion than the island of Formentera, then you can catch another boat from the port at La Savina in the north of Formentera, to the smaller island of Espalmador.

Privately owned by a wealthy Spanish family although the beautiful white sandy beaches can be visited by the public. Located just a few metres off the northern tip of Formentera, this really is a little paradise. Also on the island are mud baths which you can bathe in and treat your skin.

Sights & Attractions in [locality]

One of the more popular reasons to visit the island is the natural mud bath that can be found in the middle. On a wide salt plain you can spend your day wallowing in the cool mud pool, and then wash it off in the sea after. A great way to relax...although there are actually no known health benefits of the mud.

Beaches in [locality]

The warm shallow waters and beautiful white beaches are what attracts people to this small island, the most popular of these being Platja de S'Alga. This is also a well known naturist beach, although nudity is not obligatory.

In addition to the beaches there are several coves and bays that are worth exploring, for example Cala de Bocs and sa Torreta in the north west.
